The new Bugatti Veyron super sports will be limited to only 30 units each of which € 1,650,000 ($ 2,000,000, or priced at current rates). This edition is the latest version of the Veyron are supercars, before it goes into production. The official debut at Pebble Beach will be in August. Deliveries will begin later this year.
As production of the Bugatti Veyron winds toward its eventual conclusion, Bugatti has created what is likely to be the ultimate version of its world-beating hypercar: the Super Sports. Bugatti sent its official test driver Pierre Henri Raphanel out on Volkswagen’s Ehra-Lessian high-speed oval with the first Super Sports to see just what it could do. With representatives of the Guinness book of records and German Technical Inspection Agency (TU?V) on hand, Raphanel made passes around the big oval in both directions.
With output bumped up from 1,001 horsepower to 1,200 horsepower, torque swelling to 1,106 pound-feet and a revised aerodynamic kit, Raphanel managed runs of 265.9 and 269.8 mph for an average terminal velocity of 267.81 mph and a new world record for a production car. The same customer also confirmed that the new model, a number of exterior modifications function. We can not wait, it finished!
You might think that turning the Bugatti Veyron back into a world-beater was simply a case of stuffing more horsepower under the hood – but the conversion from standard model to the Super Sport is more extensive than that. The list of modifications to the Veyron is long and expensive. The car now has four fuel pumps, compared with the Veyron’s two, feeding the larger quad turbochargers. A less restrictive (and louder) exhaust system was developed. That and some engine-management programming increases torque to a hilarious 1,500 Nm.
Aerodynamics are key when it comes to top speed, so the Super Sport gets a longer roof with twin triangular air ducts, instead of scoops. It features a more slippery silhouette to feed more air to the engine. The front air intakes have been expanded and reshaped, while two further vents have been added underneath the headlights. A new front splitter and F1-style double diffuser help to improve high-speed stability, too.
